What's included in our lawn fertilization program?
We offer a comprehensive lawn fertilization program that aims to keep your turf in top condition. Not only is it all-encompassing, but it is also tailored to the specific type of grass you have on your property. Some properties in northern Georgia have warm-season turf such as bermudagrass or zoysia grass, while other properties in the area have a type of cool-season grass called fescue.
Although the type and timing of our treatments will differ depending on your turf, our lawn fertilization program includes many of the same services regardless of your grass variety. When you sign up for our program, you will receive applications of liquid fertilizer, granular fertilizer, pre-emergent weed control, post-emergent weed control, and lime. All of these applications will help your grass become stronger, healthier, and greener.
Properties with warm-season turf will receive a chelated iron treatment in the spring.
Fertilization Schedule for Warm-Season Grass
Our fertilization schedule for properties with warm-season grass like bermudagrass and zoysia grass runs year-round. The first of the seven treatments will take place between January and March, and the final treatment will take place between November and December. Our fertilization program schedule for warm-season grass is as follows:
- Round 1 (January-March): We apply pre- and post-emergent weed control to prevent late spring, summer, and fall weeds while also knocking out any existing weeds.
- Round 2 (March-April): We apply another round of our pre- and post-emergent weed control.
- Round 3 (April-June): We apply liquid fertilizer, chelated iron, and post-emergent weed control to promote healthy grass growth, color enrichment, and the elimination of any weeds present on your lawn.
- Round 4 (June-August): We apply slow-release, granular fertilizer and post-emergent weed control to fuel healthy root growth, color enrichment, and kill existing weeds.
- Round 5 (August-October): We apply slow-release, granular fertilizer and post-emergent weed control.
- Round 6 (September-November): We apply pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control treatments to prevent early spring and summer weeds while simultaneously targeting existing fall weeds.
- Round 7 (November-December): We apply post-emergent weed control to wipe out existing weeds and a lime treatment to balance the pH of your soil.
Fertilization Schedule for Cool-Season Grass
Our fertilization schedule for properties with cool-season fescue grass also begins between January and March and ends between November and December. We follow the lawn fertilization schedule listed below for cool-season grass:
- Round 1 (January-March): We apply slow-release granular fertilizer to promote turf health, color, and growth. Our team also applies pre- and post-emergent weed control to prevent late spring, summer, and fall weeds while eradicating any existing weeds.
- Round 2 (March-April): We apply more granular fertilizer, pre-emergent weed control, and post-emergent weed control.
- Round 3 (April-June): We perform a post-emergent weed control treatment to kill weeds that are on your lawn.
- Round 4 (June-August): We apply another round of post-emergent weed control treatment to kill weeds present on your turf.
- Round 5 (August-October): We apply more post-emergent weed control to wipe out existing weeds. If you choose to have your lawn overseeded, then we will apply fertilizer following the service. If you opt out of overseeding, then we will go ahead and apply pre-emergent weed control to combat weed growth proactively.
- Round 6 (September-November): We apply granular fertilizer to promote root growth and healthy development. We also perform pre- and post-emergent weed control treatments.
- Round 7 (November-December): We finish up the year by applying another round of post-emergent weed control. We also apply a lime treatment to help regulate the pH of your soil.
