Pool Installation & Landscape Renovation for the Rossi Family

This project included a custom pool, spa, and pool deck.

We started this major project by installing the custom in-ground pool and natural stone paver pool deck. To do that, we excavated the area where the pool now resides and then started the multi-step building process. That chain of events included everything from installing the steel framework and plumbing system to finishing the interior and filling it with water.

The pool we installed for the Rossi family is made out of gunite — which is an extremely durable material similar to concrete — and has a freeform design with curved edges. We also built an adjoining spa with a stacked-stone exterior that complements the pool deck. The deck extends from the back of the home to the end of the pool, proving substantial outdoor living space for our client to enjoy.

Next, we added mulch, rock, and landscape beds.

After finishing the pool, we turned our attention to renovating the landscape. Our first order of business was to install tan river rocks directly around the perimeter of the pool deck. Then, we installed black hardwood mulch just beyond the river rocks, creating gentle color contrast that clearly separates the pool from the rest of the yard.

The rock and mulch installations run down the left side of the backyard and expand into a landscape bed featuring small plants spaced evenly apart with symmetry and balance. We also installed additional landscape beds around the entire perimeter of the backyard and directly abutting the house. These beds contain a colorful blend of shrubs and trees that thrive in our area and are covered by a layer of nutrient-rich mulch.

As with all of our landscaping projects, our team created a design rendering so our clients could see the end result before we even began the installation!

The finishing touches included installing steps, a walkway, and sod.

We completed this project by adding a few finishing touches. The first was a series of stone steps that descend softly down the right side of the house, leading from the driveway to the backyard. The steps end at a stone walkway that connects to the pool deck. By combining these two hardscape features — the steps and walkway — we were able to create a natural path from the front of the house to the pool. Finally, we finished this project by placing new sod throughout the property to repair the areas we dug up during the pool installation process. Sod has many benefits, including that it:

  • Comes pre-grown and green
  • Provides an "instant" lawn
  • Combats soil erosion
  • Is easy to maintain with regular watering
